Daniel
Daniel's been really sick lately and has missed a lot of work so please be in prayer for him. Thank you! We don't know what's wrong.
1st Time Mothers...
1. WAS YOUR FIRST PREGNANCY PLANNED?
kinda...I stopped taking birth control and we knew I could get pregnant but we just didn't expect it to happen so fast. Just like a month after I stopped taking the b.c.
2. WERE YOU MARRIED AT THE TIME?
Yes
3. WHAT WERE YOUR REACTIONS?
scared and in shock...I didn't feel any different so I had a hard time believing it at first. Plus I was so scared because I didn't know if we were ready and how I would be at being a mother.
4. WAS ABORTION AN OPTION FOR YOU?
Absolutely NEVER!!!
5. HOW OLD WERE YOU?
23 when he was conceived and 24 when he was born
6. HOW DID YOU FIND OUT YOU WERE PREGNANT?
I was late at 'you know what' so I took a Home Pregnancy Test which was positive and then went to the doctors for another test for confirmation.
7. WHO DID YOU TELL FIRST?
Matt...then my brother, Daniel, because he was walking by the bedroom (we share a house together) and we were like "we have to tell you something." He's like, "What? you're pregnant?" My mouth dropped because I couldn't believe he guessed...we never talked in front of him about kids and that I could get pregnant soon.
8. DID YOU WANT TO FIND OUT THE SEX?
Yes...I couldn't resist. When we have a 2nd I'm debating whether to or not but I probably will. I HAD to find out for the first one though because I wanted to know of course, and then everyone was driving me crazy with the "you're going to have a boy" or "you're going to have a girl" , etc etc...
9. DUE DATE?
November 9, 2007 (but he was born October 24, 2007)
10. DID YOU HAVE MORNING SICKNESS?
not really...I'm so glad! The only time I ever felt sick was when I was hungry and then as long as I ate something right away I was good. I did feel a little sick when brushing my teeth once but nothing serious and I never threw up.
11. WHAT DID YOU CRAVE?
I didn't really have any cravings...at least nothing different then what I usually eat anyways.
12. WHO/WHAT IRRITATED YOU THE MOST?
work...at the time. lol My boss went through the whole restaurant spraying some kind of bug killer (don't worry it wasn't around the food)...He sprayed it to kill the flies that I had gotten in, but it just happened to be about every place I needed to go! I was a manager at the time and had to be in the office on the computer and be wherever I was needed, but I was pregnant at the time and he kept spraying that stuff. It SO made me mad cause he knew I was pregnant and I have to stay out in the lobby for quite a while or lean my head out the drive-thru window just to get some air.
13. WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CHILD'S SEX?
A Boy
14. DID YOU WISH YOU HAD THE OPPOSITE SEX OF WHAT YOU WERE GETTING?
Nope, I've never wished for one or the other. Although I kept feeling like I was "going to" have a girl...but I think that was set on because everyone pretty much 'told' me I was having a boy and some of them were really irritating so in a way I wanted them to be wrong. But i love my little boy and wouldn't trade him for anything! He's the best!
15. HOW MANY POUNDS DID YOU GAIN THROUGHOUT THE PREGNANCY?
45-50 pounds...I can't remember for sure but I know it was at least in the 40s. I'm still about 20lbs over what I was before I had my son. I wish I could lose it! It doesn't want to leave!
16. DID YOU HAVE A BABY SHOWER?
yep, my mother-in-law gave me one, I had one with my family in PA when we went out there in the summer and my parent's kinda did a shower type thing after the baby was born because of...well...it's hard to explain but there was a mix up sorta with the shower my mother-in-law threw.
17. WAS IT A SURPRISE OR DID YOU KNOW?
I knew on all of them except for the PA one. I mean, I knew they had been talking about it but I didn't know when they planned it and they totally caught me by surprise. They threw a little "ice cream social' thing and I knew about that but ended up falling asleep and was almost late for it! I walked around the corner of my grandparent's cabin to people saying "surprise" and a table full of presents.
18. DID YOU HAVE ANY COMPLICATIONS DURING YOUR PREGNANCY?
kinda..my blood pressure was high all the time starting the beginning of October and I swelled up like a balloon. I had just seen the doctor in Sept like a week before and I was fine. I come in the first week of October and fine in a weeks time I had gained 20lbs! Plus my pressure was high. They made me stop work and go on bedrest..although I will admit staying on bedrest was a bit difficult and didn't happen most of the time. I had to get stuff ready for the baby! Anyways so things kept getting worse so they finally induced me two and a half weeks early.
19. WHERE DID YOU GIVE BIRTH?
Borgess in Kalamazoo, MI
20. HOW MANY HOURS WERE YOU IN LABOR?
I really don't remember/know...the nurse kept telling me I was in labor but I didn't feel anything. lol. They started inducing me on the 23rd of October in the morning...not much was happening so they gave me some other kinda of inducement. I don't remember really feeling anything until the morning of the 24th when they finally decided to break my water. Once my water broke those contractions hit full force. I ended up throwing up. Okay okay...I'm getting way off subject here now.. lol... anyways, from when the actual pain started until I got an epidural and till the baby came happened all in about 4-5 hours. I guess according the hospital though I was probably in 'labor' for 24ish hours since they kept telling me I was almost from the time they first started inducing me.
21. WHO DROVE YOU TO THE HOSPITAL?
My mom actually...she went with me to have another blood test, etc done, but they ended up keeping me there since they decided to induce. So we had to call Matt. He stayed with me there. I can't remember if he came that first night though..cause they didn't actually decide to induce me till the 23rd. I had went for the test on the 22nd but I had to stay there for the results and for monitoring and then in the morning on the 23rd that's when I called Matt to come since they were going to induce.
22. WHO WATCHED YOU GIVE BIRTH?
Just Matt, I would've liked my mom in there but Matt's mom wanted to be in there too and I didn't want the room filled with people. I almost had my best friend with me too, but in the end I figured just to be fair to everyone and to be comfortable myself I would just have Matt.
23. WAS IT NATURAL OR C-SECTION?
Natural
24. DID YOU TAKE MEDICINE TO EASE THE PAIN?
Yes, an epidural. I wanted to go naturally without pain medication but I couldn't taken and then like I said above, I ended up throwing up.

My 1st MOPs Group
It went pretty well. They were all nice and Malachi seemed to have a good time too even though he cried a bit when I first put him in the nursery. They had breakfast there too which was soooooo nice especially since I forgot to eat something before I went :) lol We talked about the '5 Love Languages of Children'.
Quote I got from a cousin..not sure where she got it...
Find a guy who calls you beautiful instead of hot, Who calls you back when you hangup on him, who will stay awake just to watch you sleep. Who kisses you on the forehead, Who wants to show you off to the world when you are in your sweats. Who holds your hand in front of his friends. Wait for the one who constantly reminding you how much he cares about you, and how lucky he is to have you. Wait for the one who turns to his friends and say "that's her."

MOPs
I'm joining a MOPs group! Can't get anyone else to hang out with me especially people with kids so Malachi can learn how to socialize so I figured this would be a good thing to do. My first meeting is tomorrow. Plus this is with Christian people of course so I will be able to get some accountability, good advice on things, new friends (hopefully) and new friends for Malachi too of course! I'm so excited...only thing is it's early in the morning so I need to get off my lazy butt and get up early! I've gotten in the habit of staying up to late and then sleeping in. Hopefully I can do this and it works out okay. YAY!!!

6. I'd rather suffer then spend lots of money....that goes for freezing to death because I don't want a high heat bill, etc (don't worry I do keep my son in flannel sleepers most of the time during the winter months because our house is so cold). My husband calls me the heat nazi. If I see anyone go near the thermostat to turn it up...I will bite ur head of! :) Or when u are not looking I will turn it back down. lol
7. I'm shy which I think a lot of people assume to mean that I'm stuffy and don't like being friends or something because a lot of people seem to not include me in things or ignore me. I just don't know how to socialize...yes it's true...i can't help it!
8. I have the hardest time trying to figure out where my talents lie. I can't sing, can't dance, can't do crafts, can't speak 10 languages...can't even speak two languages. Can't draw or paint...can't can't can't...not a good talker and sometimes not the best listener (my mind wanders to easily once in awhile). Not a people person..not that great with kids besides my own (even then I wonder sometimes). Yeah, I like to go into this pit of depression of not being able to figure out what I'm good at. hehe
9. I kinda want to have one more child (I really wouldn't mind having a few more but Matt wants no more than two). I just don't know if I'm ready yet but I keep praying to God to let it happen in His timing and when He knows I'm ready to give me the strength. Cause it is hard sometimes!
10. My family (on my mom's side) has a summer place in PA that we go every year. It's great! We have cabins (and some of us tents) and we have bonfires and cookouts and go swimming in a swimming hole...it's so wonderful!
11. We had a cat that died last August. It was very sad and very unexpected. :(
12. I can't stick with anything for a very long time. Any project I start I tend to get bored with and want to move on to something else. Even with books...it's not so bad now but when I was younger I would be reading three or four different books at the same time.

14. I play Final Fantasy XI with my bro and hubby online (which includes people all over the world).

17. I wish I could just add an extension on to my parent's house and live there and split the bills, etc. I love my parents and would love to live with them still or at least really close. :) Well, I only live like 10 minutes from them now but I wish I at least lived in the same neighborhood or on the same street.

23. I want to learn Japanese, German and a bunch more languages
24. I've thought about starting a daycare in my home but I don't know... I just think it would be fun especially since I have a lot of toys now for kids :) Plus I want to have a way to make a little extra cash from out of the home so I can stay home with my son.
25. I've never dyed my hair but I did get highlights twice (maybe three times but I think it was only two and that was because someone I worked with was going to school for cosmotology and I wanted to help them out since they needed people to practice on.)

Ford Street is coming! Hurray!
I can't wait to go to Ford Street this year! I just pray all works out so that we can for sure go. I just love sharing F.S. with Malachi because I remember all the fun I had there when I was a kid and want Malachi to experience that too.
Daniel is planning on putting on a movie this year with our cousins, Aunt, Uncles, etc help. This should be good because Daniel is awesome with graphics and editing. For those that don't know...it was an old tradition of ours to put on some form of "show" or "event" every year but as most of the cousins grew up and started having families we just really haven't had anything the last few years. I hope this turns out good.

2nd Christmas? =)
Matt's dad and his dad's girlfriend dropped off some toys for Malachi and clothes too today. Actually it was yesterday since I'm writing this after midnight. It was like a second Christmas for Malachi. :) When he woke up from his nap he had a whole bunch of new toys to play with. They were 'hand me downs' from their children but in good shape and Malachi was happy with them. Especially the cars. He loves cars. :)
Troubled times... There IS hope...
There are several words that are dominating the contemporary news media: recession, gas and food prices, bank loans, inflation, and debt. We are the only nation on earth that has "In God we trust" inscribed on our dollar bill, but that dollar is shrinking daily. It doesn't buy what it once did. Why is this happening?
God warned Israel that if they failed to trust Him, they would lose His blessing and would become in debt to the foreigner: " He shall lend to you, but you shall not lend to him; he shall be the head, and you shall be the tail" (Deut. 28:44). He said that they would also have droughts, and incurable diseases, and aliens would fill the land. Think of what's happening to America:
Our national debt is more than 10 trillion dollars. Much of this debt is to foreign nations. Over 2,3000,000 Americans will get cancer in the next year. We have terrible droughts, and yet we have continual massive floods. We are also plagued with devastating hurricanes and killer tornadoes. These things are not evidences of God's blessing. So why are they happening to us?
Aren't we a morally good nation? Don't we trust in God? Before you answer, here are some statistics for you to consider:
*Since 1990, more than 300,000 people have been murdered in the U.S.
*More than 50 million babies have been aborted since Roe v. Wade.
*50-60% of married couples admit to adultery, and 5 million unwed couples live together.
*75-80% have had premarital sex by the age of 19.
*One-thrid of births are out of wedlock. 1 in 4 teenage girls has a sexually transmitted disease.
*Americans spend up to 13 billion annually on pornography.
*We have over 2,200,000 people in prison - the highest number in the world.
*Surveys reveal that 91% lie regularly.
Still, the idea that we have somehow offended God is unthinkable. Rather, we blame the economy, politicians, pesticides, global warming, global cooling, El Nino, Mother Nature - anything but ourselves and our relationship to God. However, if you are in the middle of smog, the air may look normal and clean. But from the higher perspective of 10,000 feet, you will see that the poison of brown smog hangs over your whole area.
To see our true moral state, we have to look at ourselves from God's high perspective. Jesus said, "Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." The Bible says that if you hate someone, you are a murderer. Lying lips are "an abomination to the Lord." Deceitfulness is so serious to God, all liars will have their part in the lake of fire. Also, no thief or adulterer will enter Heaven.
How many lies have you told in your life? Have you ever stolen anything, used God's name in vain, or looked with lust? If you have broken those Commandments, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart, and if you are guilty on Judgment Day you will end up in Hell. That's not God's will. He is rich in mercy and has made a way for you to be forgiven. You broke God's Law (the Ten Commandments), but Jesus paid your fine in His life's blood when He suffered and died on the cross. That means God can legally dismiss your case. He can commute your death sentence and let you live, because of the suffering death and resurrection of Jesus Christ: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." What you must do is repent (turn from all sin) and trust in Jesus alone. If you do that, God will grant you the gift of everlasting life. So, don't put it off. Repent and trust in Jesus today. You may not have tomorrow.
If you care about this nation and where you will spend eternity, get right with God now. Pray something like this:
"Dear God, please forgive me for sinning against You. I turn from all sin and trust in Jesus alone as my Lord and Savior. I will read the Bible daily and obey what I read. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen."

January
Matt's mom's birthday was the 14th and we going out to eat today with her which is the 19th. We'll be going to Olive Garden I think.
BANG! It happened... ??
Of course, my theory is an insult to your intellect, because you know that if the Coca Cola can is made, there must be a maker. If it is designed, there must be a designer. The alternative, that it happened by chance or accident, is to move into an intellectual free zone.
Could I convince you that I dropped 50 oranges onto the ground and they by chance fell into 10 rows of 5 oranges? The logical conclusion is that someone with an intelligent mind put them there. The odds that 10 oranges would fall by accident into a straight line are mind-boggling, let alone 10 rows of 5.
What about the banana?
Note that the banana:
*is shaped for human hand
*has non-slip surface
*has outward indicators of inward contents: Green--too early, Yellow--just right, Black--too late.
*has a tab for removal of wrapper
*is perforated on wrapper
*bio-degradable wrapper
*is shaped for human mouth
*is pleasing to taste buds
*is curved towards the face to make eating process easy
Do you know of any building that didn't have a builder? Do you know of any painting that didn't have a painter? Do you know of any car that didn't have a maker?
"Everyone who is seriously interested in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the universe -- a spirit vastly superior to man, and one in the face of which our modest powers must feel humble." --Albert Einstein
Did you know that the eye has 40,000,000 nerve endings, the focusing muscles move an estimated 100,000 times a day, and the retina contains 137,000,000 light sensitive cells?
Charles Darwin said, "To suppose that the eye could have been formed by natural selection, seems I freely confess, absurd in the highest degree."
George Gallup, the famous statistician said, "I could prove God statistically; take the human body alone; the chance that all the functions of the individual would just happen, is a statistical monstrosity."

Good advice for any relationship.....
To keep your marriage brimming,
With love in the loving cup,

I need to take a moment to pour out my heart...
What to say...? What can I say...? I've been feeling so totally lonely and like an outcast lately. Maybe I'm still searching for what the Lord wants me to do... I just don't feel like I fit in anywhere. Everyone I know seems like they have their own little "click" and it feels like there is no room for me to fit in with them. Matt says he feels the same way a lot. He'll call people and they will never return phone calls, etc. I know people are busy...I'm busy too, but I'd still like to meet some new friends and have people I can talk to. Sometimes it just feels like I don't have anyone...except God of course. I always have Him to talk to, but it would still be nice to have someone I can see face to face to socialize with. Plus, I want Malachi to meet people and socialize with people but every time I suggest doing things with the other people and their kids they never get back to me or don't seem very excited about doing anything. It's just frustrating...
At least I can talk about this on here right? Not like anyone probably even checks this...
I'm not a people person. I try hard to talk to people and get to know people, but no one ever seems like they really try to get to know me. (Okay, maybe there is a couple people I can think of off the top of my head that do try...but they are always so busy or either living to far away to really do anything with most of the time.)
Well, there I did it...I poured out my heart for tonight.
